LUPITA GALAVIZ
Lupita es la Facilitadora de Planificación de Atención Avanzada en Cottage Health y trabaja directamente con pacientes y familias monolingües y bilingües. Lupita tiene una maestría en Trabajo Social y una licenciatura en Sociología. Tiene experiencia trabajando con miembros de la comunidad monolingües y bilingües a través de su trabajo en Domestic Violence Solutions, Community Solutions, Inc.. También hizo prácticas de trabajo social en Ventura County Behavioral Health y en Cottage Health donde trabajó con adultos que padecen enfermedades mentales persistentes y graves. Lo que le atrae a Lupita de MVMV es el gran conocimiento que trae cada miembro, la colaboración entre diferentes líderes locales y la forma en que todos se unen para ayudar a la comunidad latina a completar las directivas médicas. Lupita nació en Santa Bárbara y fue criada por padres de habla hispana que emigraron a los Estados Unidos en la década de los 70. Lupita es parte de la primera generación que se gradúa de la Universidad en su familia. En su tiempo libre le encanta mantenerse conectada a sus raíces culturales y aprender a cocinar las recetas mexicanas tradicionales y las tortillas hechas a mano de su mamá.
Lupita is the Advance Care Planning Facilitator at Cottage Health and works directly with monolingual and bilingual patients and families. Lupita has a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. She has experience working with monolingual and bilingual community members through her work at Domestic Violence Solutions, Community Solutions, Inc., and social work internships at Ventura County Behavioral Health and Cottage Health where she worked with adults suffering with persistent and severe mental illness. She was attracted to MVMV because of the wealth of knowledge each member brings, the collaboration between different community leaders and how everyone comes together with the goal of helping the Latino community in completing AHD’s. Lupita is a Santa Barbara native raised by monolingual Spanish speaking parents who immigrated to the US in the 1970’s. She is a first generation college graduate and loves keeping up with her cultural roots and learning to cook her mom’s traditional Mexican recipes and homemade tortillas.
